World Religions Course, Fall 2023
“Our Neighboring Faiths” will kick off on Sunday, September 17th as our Sunday school class for grades 4+ is introduced to the program. We will take a figurative – and literal – tour of the world’s major religions, and some of the smaller ones, too! We’ll learn about the history, culture, and theology of each religion, and talk about how they relate to each other and to our values as Unitarian Universalists. We are hoping that adult members and friends of UUCWNC will enrich our youths’ experience by participating in the program.
Our Neighboring Faiths Fall Schedule (so far)
- 9/29 and 10/1 Sunday School Classes: Indigenous American Faiths (Includes trip to Lumbee Tribe of NC Pow Wow, Saturday, Sept. 30th, in Maxton, NC)
- 10/8 and 10/15 Sunday School Classes: Judaism (Includes visit to worship service at local temple or synagogue, TBD)
- 10/22, 10/30, 11/5 Sunday School Classes: Catholicism (Includes visit to the celebration of the Roman Catholic Mass at local church, TBD)
- 11/12 Sunday School Class: Hinduism (Includes FaceTime Q&A call with Hindu adherent in South Africa/India)
Use our online sign-up form to register for as many different religions as you’d like, and to identify the role in which you’d like to serve for each. Maybe you’ll want to lead the class on Buddhism but only want to attend the trip to the Lumbee Tribe Pow Wow. The form will allow you to customize your personal experience and level of participation. We will update the form as additional religions are added to the schedule, so check back often!
